These tile patterns were all part of the central hall floor in the historic Saigon Post Office. It was built by the French from 1886-1891 and designed by architect Gustave Eiffel--the same guy better known for the famous icon of Paris.

I am so glad that you have this photo on your blog. Only last week a friend sent me photos of the Saigon Post Office to show me how well the tile is holding up. He knew I would be interested as I sell the same kind of tile. Now you can get historic patterns like those here or more fanciful seashells and florals as well as modern geometric designs.
Thanks for the post, Lundy
